CAL FIRE Basic Wildland Firefighter Academy #12-FULL

This rigorous 219 hours of training is specifically for those seeking a seasonal firefighter job with CAL FIRE. The new 6-week format will include additional certifications, including SFT Low Angle Rope Rescue Operations (LARRO), NWCG Firefighter Type 1 S-131, Portable Pumps and Water Use S-211.  Graduates of this Academy meet the minimum wildland fire training requirements needed to apply for seasonal wildland fire control positions with most fire agencies in California, including CAL FIRE.  Successful candidates will also meet the minimum requirements for a Type I Firefighter.  This means they meet the minimum requirements to begin taking classes for roles in the Incident Command System.

PREREQUISITES:

*Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations: Only approved curriculum that meets or exceeds the standard will apply.
